You describe what you need, and Manus takes over: it browses the web, writes and executes code, reads and writes files, fills out forms, and produces a deliverable at the end. The goal is an agent that finishes the job, not one that hands it back to you every few minutes. Launched in March 2025, Manus went viral almost immediately, reaching $100M ARR and 22M monthly visits before being acquired by Meta in December 2025 for a reported $2-3 billion. In March 2026, Manus Desktop extended the agent's reach to local files and applications on Mac and Windows.

Manus can handle a wide range of knowledge work tasks. Research tasks are a strong suit: provide a topic and Manus will browse multiple sources, cross-reference findings, and return a structured summary or report. Data tasks are also well-handled, including pulling data from websites, processing it with Python, and outputting tables or charts. The Desktop app adds a meaningful new category: tasks that require interacting with locally installed software, reading local documents, or writing to your filesystem. This closes the gap between cloud agent and genuine digital assistant for daily work.

Manus offers a free tier with a limited task credit budget, enough to evaluate the product and run a few substantive tasks. The Starter plan (approximately $39/month) raises usage limits and allows higher concurrency. The Professional plan (approximately $199/month) adds team collaboration features, priority execution, and higher monthly task allowances. Enterprise pricing is available with custom SLAs and managed deployment options.

Manus is the right choice when you need an agent that can complete a task end-to-end rather than assisting with one step at a time. If you find yourself copy-pasting between tools, assembling research manually, or spending hours on multi-step workflows that follow a predictable pattern, Manus is worth testing. It is less suitable for tasks requiring deep access to internal systems, real-time data feeds, or compliance-controlled environments where cloud execution is not permitted. For short, one-shot queries, a standard chat assistant will get there faster.
